ECCE is a holistic approach towards child development and learning in which many aspects of a child's cognitive, physical, emotional and social aspects are taken into consideration especially when they are younger than six years old because 85% of their cumulative brain development happens before that age.
ECCE is important most of all for the overall development of a child's mind in learning, attitude, aptitude and behaviour. As by the guidelines set by NEP 2020, a child has to go through gradual and various degrees of learning before being mentally, physically and emotionally ready for higher classes. It is also important so as to meet the targets of the sustainable development goals.
Through the ECCE, a child must go through 3 years of preschooling either in aganwadis via ICDS or through other preschools set up by private entities and NGOs. The workers and teachers have to go through training and be properly equipped in order to bring about a learning experience for children that is natural, joyful and in a stimulating environment. Children who go on to class 1 will be more intuitive in learning literacy and numeracy skills, communicate more properly, be intuitive and will have a better attitude.
