ReplyDeleteFLN Mission is a big leap from what was to what ought to be. In the early years schools have always treated these two subjects (literacy and numeracy) as separate learning entitites. But with NEP 2020, it brings with it the need to see that these two are like two sides of a coin. The need is to prepare children right from their childhood stage and to develop a strong foundation of literacy and numeracy so as to enable them to acquire the proper skills when they get to higher levels of education. The emphasis is on holistic development of a child. ECCE, therefore, plays a pivotal role in achieving this goal (FLN) since it is specially designed for this purpose. The focus is not only on education but care for the child as well.

FLN mission can achieve all the objectives and reach its target goal only when it is introduced at the ECCE level. Students at an early age will develop interest in reading, writing and arithmetic. The concepts of numbers and its applications will be understood and this will help in building a strong foundation in education. It will also motivate the students and enable them to perform well in education with interest and capabilites.

Regarding the age group of 3 to 6 year are already in the responsibility of ECCE or Anganwadi . ECCE (Early Childhood Care Education) is an education programme which aims to develop a child not only academically, but emotionally , cognitively, and socially as well. In simple words , it aims the- all round development of the child.
