  9. It tells that the child reasoning is not good. To help the child understands better we can make them understands and develop in them the early math skills. One big idea that children need to develop is that subtraction and addition are related. It is important for the teacher to investigate the child number concepts.

  15. It tells that the child has not yet develop number sense, so in order to help the child to understand the concept of subtraction better, we should first make sure that the child has fully mastered the addition and that they need to see the connection between the two, that subtraction is the opposite of addition, which means take away or finding a difference.

  16. Ask children to bring seventeen small stone then ask them to count it and takeout nine stone and counting the rest stone. That is substraction

    ReplyDelete
  17. The child has problem of understanding in comparison of numbers like bigger than/smaller than in one digit and two digit numbers.
For better understanding the concept of subtraction we should use different types of activity which is related to our day-to-day life.

  18. First thing first, the child has least knowledge about subtraction or the borrow Sum. So, in order to make the child understand about the sum of subtraction we must make him understand practically by handing him 12 marbles and take away 9 marbles back from him. And ask him about how much marbles are still left with him. In this way it will much easier for teaching a child.

  22. Help them to think logically about the numeracy

    ReplyDelete
  23. The answer written by the child is incorrect, this shows that the child lacks the concept of subtraction.
In order to help the learner better understand the concept of subtraction is to make the learner imagine subtraction as something taken away or a loss or decrease of quantity. This can be done by giving sufficient examples with a very small subtrahend, such that the learner can use the counting experience to give the answer and more time is spent in understanding the problem scenarios.

  25. The children understand better when the teacher taught about the number system and the meaning of more or less in terms of numeracy.

    ReplyDelete
  26. This shows that the child lacks the concept of subtraction.so the first thing to do is to help the child to understand clearly the concept of subtraction

    ReplyDelete
  27. This indicates that the child haven't got the clear idea of the concept of substraction. So as a teacher I should teach the child how to do it by using matchsticks and moreover make the child clear about the method of borrowing methods of substraction and give more time in practising related problems.

  28. The child couldn't understand and have a difficulty thinking,we can help the learner by teaching numeracy skills and playway method.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Many time the child cannot do correctly they confuse the substraction. So in order to make them understand and remember we will find something that will make them very easy, making cut out and counting the one that are not cutting down.

    ReplyDelete
  30. We can make them understand by giving them some practical activity.

  32. The child didn,t know anything about subtraction sum .
As a teacher we should teach first simple subtraction process with the jelp of figures or any playing things like marbles and follow with burrowing rules of subtraction.

  34. When a child gives a wrong answer it is clear that he/she does not understand the concept of subtraction.
So, we have to find out other ways to help the child for example by giving him/her 17 marbles that can be counted and tell the child that subtract is to take away. So 9 has to be taken away.
Let the child count how many marbles are with him/her?
Giving them marbles will help a child to pay attention to what he/she can see, touch and count and in this way a child will be able to understand the concept of subtraction better.

  35. This indicates that the child haven't got the clear idea of the concept of subtraction . So as a teacher I should teach the child how to do it by using different activities.
We should not overwhelm the child with all of the subtraction facts at once. Instead we should:
Step 1: Break it up. Don't overwhelm the child with all of the subtraction facts at once. ...
Step 2: Visualize and strategize. ...
Step 3: Practice those facts until they're mastered. ...
Step 4: Mix those facts with other facts.

  36. When a child gives a wrong answer it is clear that the child does not understand the concept of subtraction and number system. Research has shown us that students who lack a strong understanding of what numbers represent and how they relate to other numbers and the world will suffer with even the basic arithmetic problems. With this in mind, the first few months of the school year should be dedicated to helping students from relationships with numbers. Counting everything and anything should be a daily activity. As a teacher this are some activities we can do with the students to help the learner better understand the concept of subtraction
    1. Develop number sense.
    2. Teach addition first concretely.
    3. Use games and fun activities.
    4. Use lots of concrete practice with subtraction.
    5. Use real life experience.

  39. First of all, let us say that the child is not careless about numbers at this point (19-7=12) but really has not fully understood the concept of subtraction or borrowing in subtraction. As teachers or facilitators, it is our duty to find ways and means to help the learner grasp and understand how to subtract or deduct one number from another.

A simple strategy to deal with subtraction problems is to apply the ‘take away’/ ‘left over’ concept by using the exact number of sticks or pencils (17) and ask the child to take away (subtract) the required number of objects (9) and count the left over which will give the correct answer (8). This will also help to helps to build a ‘number sense’ in the child.

  40. This show that the child hasn't learn concept of subtraction i.e. putting the number according to place value and then take away the smaller number from the bigger number. In order to help understand the concept of subtraction we should make first understand the place value of numbers and then teach the child to take away the smaller number from the bigger number.

  45. The child's thinking about the concept of subtraction is not thorough and it is evident that he/she needs a proper foundation in the field of numbers.Illustrations can be used e.g:17 objects can be placed in front of the child and then 9 objects can be deducted leaving the child with the remaining objects where he/she can then count and determine the right answer.

  46. This shows that the child has not been able to understand the concept of subtraction. This is where individual attention is needed. We need to explain to the child individually eg, giving him or her 17 sweets then distributing the sweets to his/ her peers individually. Then we ask him/ her to take away 9 sweets from his/ her peers and ask him/ her to count the number of sweets left with the children. We can also explain it by the help of beads or blocks.
